Shea Butter comes from the fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree. The Vitamin A in Shea butter lends itself to improving a number of skin conditions, and can even treat wounds, skin allergies, insect bites, sunburn, and frostbite. Shea butter also contains Vitamin E which benefits the skin with its anti-aging properties.
Coconut Oil is composed primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in lauric acid which kills harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It also contains vitamin E and healthy fats, which help to make skin smooth.
The oils we traditionally think of as Cooking Oils are also fantastic for body care products. Argan Oil and Olive Oil are just two of the many examples to choose from. They are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and fats that are great for skin and hair.
Botanical Extracts for skin care are an amazing alternative to synthetically derived chemicals. They offer anti-aging and moisturizing benefits in addition to smelling great.
Crushed Herbs, Root Powders, and Clays are also amazingly beneficial and functional additions into body care products. Arrowroot Powder and Kaolin Clay are great examples of some we use and are featured in many all natural deodorants and even powdered make-up products.
Aloe is very well known and loved for its soothing properties, famously on sunburned skin. The polysacharrides in the extract help fight against damage in the skin's epidermal layer. It has even been shown to support the healing of first and second-degree burns and is approved by the FDA for such use. Many people ingest aloe for digestion, it also makes a great, higher quality base ingredient for many beauty care products in place of distilled water like in our mouth rinse.
Castile Liquid Soap literally does it all, from laundry to cars, floors to ceilings, pets, and humans alike. Traditionally an olive oil based soap, it now comes in various forms. We use castile with nothing but saponified oils, essential oil, and extracts.
